Rutabaga Growing Tips and Advice

Rutabagas are often considered twins to turnips; the only difference is color. Their tender leaves are edible. Rutabagas prefer cool weather and are frost-hardy.

  

Planting Rutabagas

Plant seeds in early summer for an autumn harvest. Sow seeds about 18 inches apart in rows and water generously. When the roots are about 3 inches thick, they are ready to be harvested.
