Beets Growing Tips and Advice

Even though beets like cool weather, they can survive in warmer conditions. You'll need to water and mulch attentively during hot weather. They love humus and potassium in their soil.

Planting Beets

First add several inches of rich, aged manure to the soil. Sow seeds about 1-2 inches apart. Water weekly and consistently or your beets will crack. When the roots are about 3 inches in diameter, you can harvest the beets. Be sure to harvest before the first frost.

Days to Harvest: 45-65 days
Days to Germinate: 3-14 days
